POPCORN GALLERY | BLAIR ANDERSON, MUSE

    12:00pm - 6:00pm

    purple pendant
    Description

The Popcorn Gallery presents Muse, an exhibition by Blair Anderson, founder of SilverWorks Studio & Gallery in historic Glen Echo Park. Artist Blair Anderson revisits her inclination for themes with an all new, original collection that explores the nature of Muse. Using a variety of gemstones, precious metals and found objects, Anderson creates wearable art. This collection focuses on and depicts different deities in various cultures and how they interact and inspire artists. Some whimsical and some dead serious, these wearable depictions connect with the wearer either as an inspiration or the representation of what inspires.

Founder of SilverWorks Studio and Gallery, Anderson celebrates 15 years at Glen Echo Park with this collection. This exhibit will feature her work as well as the SilverWorks faculty, alumni, and student work.

Practicing the art since 1986, Anderson founded SilverWorks to make the joy of silversmithing more accessible with a teaching style that empowers the student. Her classes are playful and relaxed, designed to open the door for a student to discover their creative self. The two studios at Glen Echo Park offer workshops in a broad variety of smithing techniques and operate an Open Studio policy that allows students to practice their skills in a professional setting.

    10:00am - 6:00pm

    small-scale landscape drawing
    Description

The Park View Gallery presents Contemporary Landscapes, a solo exhibition by artist Lauren Scavo-Fulk consisting of small-scale landscape drawings (charcoal and graphite). Each drawing is approximately 5”x7" and is surrounded by a wide border designed to draw the viewer in and allow them to experience each environment intimately. The work is an examination of the relationship between human consciousness and the external environment, particularly how we interpret the objective world around us in a first-person, subjective way.
