    6:00pm - 8:00pm

    Sculpture with candy
    Description

180 – 300 features exuberant, candy-inspired paintings and sculptures influenced by the artist Nicole Maloof Twomey’s experience living with an autoimmune disease. Accumulation, collection, and medical waste play roles in each piece, with hundreds of repeating forms flowing over one another, created by casting used Type 1 Diabetes Infusion Sets and exposing the hidden realities of the artist’s life. On average, people with Type 1 make between 180 – 300 additional health related decisions daily. Through these dynamic pieces, the artist aims to draw the viewer in to experience the realities of living with an autoimmune disease.

LISA HOROWITZ | VOYAGES IN MOSAICS

    10:00am - 6:00pm

    A mosaic landscape
    Description

The Park View Gallery presents Voyages in Mosaics, an exhibition by Lisa Horowitz, winner of the 2025 Park View Artist Award at the 54th Annual Labor Day Art Show. Horowitz’s attraction to mosaics arose out of her love for folk art. “The art produced by self-taught artists throughout the world that reflects their community traditions, culture, and identity,” says Horowitz. “The variety of textures, colors, and materials available for mosaics provides a wonderful palette for my own folk art. My artistic expression is fueled by a love of travel, particularly to far off places that awaken in me a sense of discovery and the wonder of encountering what is different.” Morocco is one of Horowitz’s favorite destinations and many of the works in the show are inspired by the colors, energy, and beauty of that country. “The crowded bustling medinas filled with shopkeepers, artisans, and animals, the warm and engaging people, and the magnificent scenery that unfolds around every corner.”
