Description

Yield 1 draws inspiration from the Taoist concept of yin, of yin-yang, which represents entropy, gloom, reflection, dampness, and vulnerability. Yield means to submit, also, to produce. These paintings float between expressive and illustrative. They’re similar to the way I record dreams in my journal: vivid cartoonish landscapes that are darkly euphemistic yet spiritually light. This show contemplates our place in nature, decouples darkness from evil, and challenges the artificiality of a society that rejects emotional depth.
