Description
Sound of Line is a 2D show about artist Bryan Jernigan’s life and experiences coming from a rural place originally, but living in an urban area for 35 years. He has lived all the way around the beltway and within it, and in that time, he has unconsciously and consciously absorbed the city’s objective realities—traffic jams, order in chaos, inequities—but also the feelings associated with urban spaces: gritty streets, the necessity of being able to rely on oneself, the shared decay and gleaming brilliance of mundane structures and national monuments. Sound of Line represents the lives of so many who come to this place and make their mark before leaving or being replaced by someone new who is intent on carving a place for themselves. People come and go, and the city remains, ever changed by those who’ve lived within it.
