Waltz Time presents a waltz dance with live music by HANDSPRING with Carrie Rose (flute), Alexander Mitchell (violin/viola), and Owen Morrison (guitar, piano).

Sunday afternoon dances cost $15 per person, $5 for students and children over 5 years. Waltz Time accepts cash, check, and credit card. Admission includes the 45-minute lesson from 2:45pm - 3:30pm. The dance to live music goes from 3:30pm - 6:00pm.

Check the Glen Echo Park web site in case of inclement weather this weekend. If the Park is closed on Sunday (posted by 7 am), the dance is canceled.

Join us at the Barn Dance! This free fun-spirited event is suitable for all ages and ability levels. It features live music and a caller who teaches all the dances and keeps everyone moving to the music. Expect a variety of circles, squares, longways sets, contras, waltzes, and ceilidhs.

The Magnolia House Band  will be playing and Katie Stahl will be calling!

Families with pre-school kids, families with tweens and teens, grandparents, and everyone in-between will have a rollicking good time! Our intergenerational community is what makes this dance unique and fun. So grab a friend, your parents, your kids, and dance the afternoon away.

HAMBO WORKSHOP 

At our Sunday Waltzes our bands play other folk dances in addition to waltz, including polka, hambo, and schottis. You may have wondered where you can learn these dances. Wonder no more! Waltz Time is again offering a workshop on HAMBO at our August 17 waltz, taught by Dan Kahn and Katherine Anderson. There is no additional cost for this workshop – it is included in your usual entrance fee for the waltz that day. The hambo workshop will run in the Hall Of Mirrors from 6:15pm - 7:00pm, in parallel to the usual beginner waltz lesson in the Bumper Car Pavilion. We will make sure the band plays several hambo that day so you can enjoy your new skill!

Want to survive the fast-tempo Viennese dances at Waltz Time’s “Evening with Strauss Ball", but don’t want to have to delve deeply into formal Ballroom-Viennese technique? Join us at our Fast-Waltz Survival Workshop on Monday, April 28th, 7:00-8:30 pm. This workshop is targeted at social waltzers and beginner dancers planning to attend the “Evening With Strauss Ball" the following weekend (Saturday, May 3rd). Experienced waltz teachers Tony Treston and Katherine Anderson will introduce you to a hybrid waltz style designed to get you elegantly through quick-paced waltzes and bidirectional turns. Prepare for the Ball with this specially priced and practical workshop ($10 / $5 full-time students). No advanced registration. Arrive 10-15 minutes early to register for the 7:00pm workshop.
