The dance in the Glen Echo Back Room is from 9pm to midnight, DJed by Juan Villafane and Michael Quisao.

The dance is preceded by a special day of workshops with Juan Villafane. Sign up in advance for the day of workshops at newcolumbiaswing.org/classes/ for $80, or pay $90 at the door. The cost of the dance is included with the workshops. Admission is also available to just the dance for $10 in advance or $13 at the door.

Workshop will run from 2:30pm to 7pm with the following classes:

"Taking a Chance on Love"
An introduction to the classic slow softshoe routine created by the legendary jazz tap dancers Honi Coles and Cholly Atkins. Nonchalantly stylish, this solo routine smoothly combines strolls, turns, and slides in crystal-cut precision.

"The Lead Follow Matrix"
A methodical approach to master partnered dance moves. This challenging but revealing class will help you make sense of myriad possibilities, expand your repertoire exponentially, and refine your lead-follow technique.

"Rhythm Is Our Business"
Master rhythm variations and apply it into your partner dancing to create your own footwork and/or swing out variations to match the melody, hit the breaks, and add rhythmical ideas.

"Dancers Don't Need to Know More Steps, They Need To Know More Songs"
How to use your already-acquired partner dancing repertoire to "illustrate" any song. This class focuses on upgrading your listening skills, musicianship, and overall connection with the music.

Join New Columbia Swing in the Spanish Ballroom to dance the night away to Keenan McKenzie and the Riffers!

From 8:00pm-9:00pm an introductory swing dance lesson will get you all the basics you need (no partner or experience required). From 9:00 pm-midnight, dance the night away to this swinging band! Admission is $30 ($20 if you register in advance) and covers the drop-in class and the dance. Be sure to bring your proof of vaccination!

THEY’RE BACK!! The band we used to call the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies returns for another fantastic swing dance at the Spanish Ballroom. You’ll be dancing non-stop!!

Ever since they first formed more than 25 years ago, THE DADDIES made it their mission to veer from genre to genre across the musical map, choosing to follow their own muse regardless of feedback from fans and critics alike. Truth be told, individuality and defiance have always been part of the band’s DNA, and have, in turn, reinforced their rebellious reputation. Though that image is well deserved, the ability to bend the boundaries has been simultaneously tempered and informed by an adherence to an older, now vanished tradition, grounded in Tin Pan Alley, swing music and the great American songbook. You’ll find this one of the most danceable bands you’ve ever danced to!

Join New Columbia Swing in the beautiful Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park! A drop-in introductory swing lesson will be held from 8:00pm - 9:00pm. Dancing to the swinging sounds of the Boilermaker Jazz Band will last from 9:00pm - midnight! Admission is $30 ($20 if you register in advance) and covers the drop-in class and the dance. Proof of vaccination is required for attendance and masks are optional.
