3:30pm-5:30pm: Lesson
By popular demand, we are offering an advanced workshop to experienced folk waltz dancers (those who are comfortable with the material from our Intermediate/Advanced lesson series, or experienced waltzers who have a solid repertoire of folk waltz moves). During the course of the two-hour class, we will be introducing new moves like the waltz whip and swoosh that were not covered in our previous series, reviewing moves like grapevine and follow free spin, and then marrying moves together in flowing and sophisticated combinations which will boost your musicality and dance floor technique. By the end of the class students will have expanded their repertoire, increased their ability to navigate complexity on the dance floor, and gained foundational skills which will help them learn and improvise other combinations in the future. Anyone can lead, anyone can follow. No partner required but encouraged to enable ample practice opportunity. The workshop includes approximately 1 1/2 h instruction followed by 1/2 h supervised practice. $20 per person. Saturday, September 28, 3:30-5:30 pm in the Ballroom Back Room (room behind the Spanish Ballroom stage). No advance registration - just show up 15-20 minutes before the indicated start time.
