11:30am-5:30pm Workshops
We're pleased to offer this special weekend program in DC designed by Jeremy Hale to teach body mechanics and physics to increase comfort in social partner dancing, especially Brazilian Zouk. Jeremy has taught this same weekender in other cities across the country and we've heard a lot of positive feedback about how it can transform your dance and increase body awareness.
We will have 3 days of workshops and two nights of socials, with the main workshops taking place on Saturday and Sunday:
Saturday (Glen Echo)
Afternoon Anatomy of Comfort Workshops
Evening Class
Social Dancing Party
The entire Event will consist of 10 curated hours of instruction including theory lectures, exercises, and drills to embody the concepts presented, and significant time for practice, feedback, Q&A, and discussion. Day 1 (Saturday) is primarily focused on solo material, finding comfort in one’s own body, with some partnering towards the end.
The central topics for the weekend will include anatomy, frame mechanics, elasticity, and force mitigation. The material included is highly technical and detailed, but accessible to all levels of dancer, from beginners to seasoned veterans and teachers. While Brazilian Zouk will be the focus, the fundamental concepts are rooted in body mechanics and physics and therefore applicable to any dance form.
