Description

View The Deconstructed Cathedral: A Celebration of Cathedral Arts in the Popcorn Gallery. This exhibition of stone and bronze sculpture, glass art, and mosaics is curated and presented by the Sculpture Studio at Glen Echo Park. The Deconstructed Cathedral: A Celebration of Cathedral Arts, takes a deeper look into the artistry, craftsmanship, and materials that humanity has elevated in the service of art, architecture, and spiritual aspirations throughout history and illuminates the many art forms and practices at both Glen Echo Park and the Washington National Cathedral.  The intention is to engage and inspire the viewer with the rich color, content, forms, and textures found in both contemporary and traditional visual art and design.  The show tells the story of the origins of how and why sculptors and artisans come together to build and restore cathedrals and how these artists continue to evolve and shape our spaces in the 21st century.
