Photoworks is a unique community resource for student and professional photographers, located in Glen Echo Park’s Arcade Building. Photoworks offers darkroom and digital classes emphasizing hands-on instruction by a faculty of commercial and fine art photographers that are committed teachers and mentors.

Digital photography programs are supported by state-of-the-art computer technology and address the practical problems of digital image-making. Darkroom classes are skill classes as well as content driven by the student’s interest and the instructor’s vision. Weekend workshops are one or two sessions to inspire new creativity behind the lens, and youth classes are offered on the weekends as well. Youth internships are available, contact Gayle Rothschild. Supervised darkroom and digital labs are open weekly on Sundays with hourly fees.
Coffee & Critique is a monthly Sunday morning image conversation led by Karen Keating. Look for the new Sunday evening program, Cocktails & Critique, led by faculty members.

Photoworks also presents juried gallery exhibitions of work by established and emerging photographers. See website for details.
