GLEN ECHO POTTERY
Founded over forty years ago by Jeff Kirk, Glen Echo Pottery is a year-round pottery school offering both adult and teen classes spanning all skill levels. Glen Echo Pottery includes a gallery as well.
Gallery Hours: Saturdays & Sundays | 11am - 4pm | September 4, 2021 – December 19, 2021 (See below)
The pottery program is, according to director Jeff Kirk, “a haven for individual creativity." As artistic director – and as a resident artist and instructor as well – his goal is to foster the spirit that enables students to give shape and meaning to their unique visions.
Housed in the Park’s yurt structures, the program has expanded and nurtured the artistic talent of thousands of students and produced many extraordinary potters and instructors. The spirit of Glen Echo Pottery emanates from the respect for each individual's talents, needs, and expressions. Each of the pottery's instructors and artists are uniquely inspired by their traditions, imaginations, dreams, relationships, and passions. The studio also fosters community and welcomes everyone from the tentative novice to the very experienced student, with opportunities to learn and participate in all aspects of the ceramic studio process.
The Glen Echo Pottery Gallery exhibits and sells functional and decorative ceramic art made by instructors and advanced students at the Pottery. It will reopen after closure due to Covid-19 on September 4, 2021 and remain open Saturdays and Sundays, 11am - 4pm, through December 19, 2021 -- with extended hours during special events in the Park.
