Glen Echo Park operates through a partnership with Montgomery County, the National Park Service, and the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture. Together with Montgomery County, and in accordance with their policies of closing facilities to ensure the safety of the community, the Partnership is cancelling all public programs, classes, and events, as well as private rentals as of Monday, March 16. This is continually evolving situation and we will post updates to our policies and procedures on this page if a change is made. Please see below. 

Some of our classes have moved online. More are coming soon. If you are currently enrolled in a class, you will be notified by your instructor about how to participate in an online class, if offered. If you have questions, email

UPDATE March 26, 2020 -- Extension of cancellations through April 24


In accordance with recent orders from the State of Maryland and Montgomery County aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19, the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture has extended cancellations of all classes and events at Glen Echo Park through April 24, 2020. The Partnership will continue to prioritize the health and well-being of our patrons, staff, and the larger community.

During this time, we will be offering flexible make-up and refund options. If you are a student enrolled in a class that is currently running or begins during the time that classes are canceled, you will be contacted separately about making up class sessions.* (More information below.)

Below are answers to several commonly asked questions about the effects of these cancellations on Park programming and events.


* I am enrolled in a class that takes place during this time period. What happens now?

We will make every effort to reschedule all classes that were cancelled from March 16 through March 27.  We ask for your patience, as this requires coordination between our studios, classroom spaces, and instructors. Students will be contacted directly as information specific to their class becomes available.


Are dances still happening?
Unfortunately, dances through Friday, March 27th are currently cancelled. Please check back about any future dates. Patrons who purchased tickets to the March 21st Dance Party with Soul Crackers will be contacted directy (see above).


I have tickets to an Adventure Theatre MTC or Puppet Co performance. What do I do?
Adventure Theatre MTC and the Puppet Co. both manage their own theater operations. Please visit their website to find out more information or to contact them directly.


Can I still walk my dog on Park grounds?
While our buildings are closed for public programming, the grounds of the Park are still open and accessible during this time.


Can I still host my child’s birthday party?
Unfortunately, birthday parties will be unable to proceed during this two-week period. If you had a birthday party scheduled, we will be in touch to try and reschedule your party to another date.


How will I know the Park’s status beyond Friday, March 27?
