Glen Echo Park Partnership for the Arts and Culture announces its first online art market!

To support our local artist community and generate income for both artists and the Park during this public health crisis, Glen Echo Park Galleries is launching an online art market. With our physical galleries closed, this online platform will give you an opportunity to showcase artwork, reconnect with potential art buyers and sell your artwork.
 
 

Who can participate?

Open to artists 25 years of age or older, working in all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media. Only accepting artists in the local Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.

 

How can I participate?

Visual artists can participate by filling out the application HERE. It is FREE to apply! We are accepting up to 50 artists for the online art market and will close the application when we hit our maximum number of submissions. Artists are allowed to sell up to 5 pieces of artwork at a time. Images of the artwork must be high quality and saved in universal .jpeg format for entry and should be between 1400 pixels and 4000 pixels at 300PPI (pixels per inch).

 

How do sales on the platform work?

Artists who are accepted are responsible for the fulfillment of sales, i.e. shipping & handling. Glen Echo Park is solely responsible for platform management, e-commerce sales management, promotion, and digital engagement. As a curated art shop, the Partnership reserves the right to exclude any item that has not been suitably prepared for online display is too large or is otherwise inappropriate. For artists who are accepted, we will choose 3-5 artworks for the online art market, but you may submit up to 8.  

 

How much is it to participate? 

It is free to apply, but there is a $27 fee to participate upon selection. Current Glen Echo Park Partnership members, as well as new members, will be allowed a $10 discount if a member ID number is provided. Glen Echo Park retains a 20% commission on all artwork sales.  

 

Why should I participate?

Glen Echo Park has a robust online community. Our special events and classes bring more than 350,000 visitors to the Park each year. We have over 20,000 people receiving our online newsletters. Through our social media and digital platforms, we engage our online visitors in new and dynamic ways. We have over 10,000 followers on Facebook and almost 1,400 on Instagram. Our digital presence is here to amplify and enrich our artist communities. We will highlight our art shop and artists virtually, through social media, email marketing, and on our website, which gets an average of 30,000 visits per month (pre-Covid-19). As a result of the pandemic and a need to offer online opportunities, Glen Echo Parks is committed to developing new programs and platforms for visual artists in the region. The online art market will allow your artwork to be seen by our visual arts supporters and potential art buyers and allow you to participate in the growth of our online visual arts community.

 

What kind of artwork should I submit?

Artists must choose one art medium to submit artwork to the online shop. The artwork categories we are accepting include: 2D Artwork (Original Paintings, Drawings, Photographs), Fiber Artwork, Jewelry, Pottery/Sculpture, and Glass.

We are dedicated to exhibiting works of fine art which promote artistic ability, vision and creativity within the traditional and non traditional artforms of 2D and 3D works. In this respect, all artwork should be original and created from conception to completion by the artist’s own hand. No artwork copied from other artists' work or published photos are eligible.
