American Swing presents a swing dance with live music in the Spanish Ballroom.

Once upon a time, Jump Blues Band THE UPTOWN RHYTHM KINGS, headlined by ERIC SHOUTIN'  SHERIDAN, were IT. Every DC swing dancer and jump-blues fan knew: Sheridan's late '40s/early '50s-style belting and his horn-led combo's honking rowdiness were more than nostalgia-act trappings. Sheridan's energetic renditions of boomin' cuts by the likes of Roy Milton and Ike Turner, steeped in the historical origins and ongoing vitality of R&B-based reelin' and rockin' jump blues, were the real thing. Eventually, the Kings disbanded and Eric moved to Chicago, but the music never stopped. Now headlining the North Avenue Stompers in Chicago, Eric returns to DC to reunite with the Rhythm Kings for a not-to-be-missed night of incredible Jump Blues at the Spanish Ballroom.

The dance includes a beginner swing lesson with Tom & Debra from 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Band plays two sets 9:00 pm -11:45 pm; DJ music 11:45 pm - midnight. Beginners are welcome and no partner is necessary.

We know how it is, babies. Ever since you joined your family, your parents have been talking about how they never get a chance to go out swing dancing anymore, so tell them about this great Saturday DJ dance that's parent and children-friendly. They won't have to worry about getting a babysitter, because the whole family can attend together. They won't have to worry about bothering other dancers, because you're all in the same playpen! The music will be soft and the lights will be up, so Mommies and Daddies can get their swing on in a family-friendly setting.

Children must be supervised by a guardian at all times. Adults do not have to be accompanied by a baby (but they must like babies!).

Parents/guardians are entirely responsible for their children and child care is NOT provided by GEPPAC or American Swing.
