American Swing presents a swing dance with live music by Neon Swing X-Perience in the Spanish Ballroom.

 

Neon Swing X-perience, based in Pittsburgh, has been described as the “only band bold enough to jump, jive, and rock” and “swing with sting.”  The purpose of NSX is simple: to get people from all walks of life to come together and have a good time! Over the past 20 years, the band has done just that by performing hundreds of shows throughout the US and releasing seven recordings.  2018 marked the release of their eighth album. Gottaswing is delighted to welcome them back for another night of great dancing.

 

The dance includes a beginner swing lesson with Tom and Debra from 8:00 pm – 9:00pm. Band plays two long sets 9:00 pm – 11:45 pm followed by DJ music until 12 midnight. Beginners are welcome and no partner is necessary.

The Folklore Society of Greater Washington presents an afternoon of Challenging Squares & Contras featuring the band Uncle Farmer with caller Will Mentor.

 

A typical challenging session features dances with figures that might not be regularly encountered in an evening of dance. So be ready to challenge your brain and feet with star thru contra corners, backward progressions, left hand chains, and other odd delights.

You will advance your dance practice, be it through learning new moves, getting smoother on infrequent ones, or helping others to do so. Mostly it’s a chance to dance your best and have fun!

The Folklore Society of Greater Washington presents traditional American contra dancing. The evening can include square dances, mixers, waltzes and other couple dances. All Contras and Square dances are taught, no partner is necessary. There is a lesson at 7 p.m., followed by the dance with caller and live music from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
