Also during Labor Day weekend, the Glen Echo Park Partnership and the Irish Inn at Glen Echo present a weekend of Irish music and dancing, featuring a wide variety of the area’s finest performers. Also, visitors may browse the art work at the 48th Annual Labor Day Art Show in the Spanish Ballroom, open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

As part of our Labor Day weekend festivities, this dance will be completely FREE and open to the public! It's a perfect opportunity to give our Family Dances a try.


The Family Dance program is a wonderful addition to the other family-oriented programs at Glen Echo Park. Spend the afternoon dancing with your children. Each of the family dances features live music and called dances from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Bring your entire family, neighbors, birthday party, and girl or boy scout troop.

Words Out Loud: A Spoken Word Series

The Glen Echo Park Partnership is pleased to host Words Out Loud, a monthly spoken word series! 


Meetings typically take place the first Friday of each month and feature readings by accomplished authors, followed by literary trivia and an open mic session. The flyer for the September date is available HERE. 


Featured authors this month:


Marlena Chertock is the author of two books of poetry, Crumb-sized (Unnamed Press, 2017) and On that one-way trip to Mars (Bottlecap Press, 2016). She lives in Washington, D.C. and uses her skeletal dysplasia and chronic pain as a bridge to scientific poetry. Her poems and short stories have appeared in Breath & Shadow, The Deaf Poets Society, Noble/Gas Quarterly, Paper Darts, Rogue Age Wordgathering, and more. Marlena regularly moderates or speaks on panels at literary conferences and festivals.  She serves as the Communications Coordinator for the LGBTQ Writers Caucus and is on the planning committee for OutWrite. Joanne Van Wie is a poet and writer from southern Maryland with a degree in design and architecture.  She recently has published her first chapbook, Surfaces, Edges, and Openings through Foothills Publishing, and her work can also be found in Connections Magazine of the College of Southern Maryland and TEXTure Magazine of Annapolis.  She is, as well, a full time stay-at-home mother of seven children, all homeschooled.


Room 302 is in the North Arcade building. Enter to the right of the neon POPCORN sign across from the carousel and take the stairs or elevator to the third floor.

Gain insight on developing strong financial strategies, determine your EFC (Expected Family Contribution), and learn how to plan ahead financially no matter where you are now. 


Join us for this FREE one hour workshop designed to increase student and parent awareness of all aspects of creative students applying to college, both academic and financial.

Take a ride on the Dentzel Carousel –- this is the last day of its 98th season in Glen Echo Park before closing for fall and winter –-  and enjoy other amusement rides and games for kids. Find out about the Park's arts programs and be entertained with performances, vintage cars, arcade games, and more! Share your Glen Echo Park stories and learn about the Park through exhibits and programs. Free admission and open to the public. Carousel, rides and games require ticket purchase.
