Saturday Morning Family-Friendly Swing Dance

Location: Ballroom Back Room

Admission: $8 / children under 13 free

We know how it is, babies. Ever since you joined your family, your parents have been talking about how they never get a chance to go out swing dancing anymore, so tell them about this great Saturday DJ dance that's parent and children-friendly. They won't have to worry about getting a babysitter, because the whole family can attend together. They won't have to worry about bothering other dancers, because you're all in the same playpen! The music will be soft and the lights will be up, so Mommies and Daddies can get their swing on in a family-friendly setting.

Children must be supervised by a guardian at all times. Adults do not have to be accompanied by a baby (but they must like babies!).

Parents/guardians are entirely responsible for their children and child care is NOT provided by GEPPAC or American Swing.

Swing Dance

Saturday, February 24, 8:00 pm - midnight

Presenter: Tom Cunningham Orchestra

Recommended Ages: All ages welcome

Location: Spanish Ballroom

Admission: $20 general / $15 students

Hear for yourself why Frankie Manning, one of the original Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers and an icon to the Swing World, called the Tom Cunningham Orchestra “the Swingin’est Band in all the Land!” The 16-piece orchestra’s appearances at Glen Echo Park are a Washington institution going back to 1983 and celebrated on TV, radio, newspapers and in books. So take a tip from The Washington Post’s Mike Joyce, “The Cunningham Band is bound to please.”

Enjoy a beginning swing lesson with Tom & Debra of Gottaswing at 8 pm, followed by dancing from 9 to midnight. No partner or prior experience needed.
