47th Annual Labor Day Art Show

The 47th Annual Labor Day Art Show features more than 200 artists from the greater Washington, DC area and over 450 works of art including photography, painting, ceramics, jewelry, glass, textiles, and more. For the third year in a row, the Labor Day Art Show offers jewelry on a “cash and carry” basis and also returning this year is a sleeved prints section! See amazing artwork from across the region in one of the largest art exhibitions in the area! FREE ADMISSION.

Also during Labor Day weekend, the Glen Echo Park Partnership and the Irish Inn at Glen Echo present a weekend of Irish music and dancing, featuring a wide variety of the area’s finest performers. Also, visitors may browse the art work at the 47th Annual Labor Day Art Show in the Spanish Ballroom, open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

As part of our Labor Day weekend festivities, this dance will be completely FREE and open to the public! It's a perfect opportunity to give waltz a try.

 

Waltz Time presents a beginning waltz lesson from 2:45 to 3:30 pm, followed by an afternoon of waltzes and other couples dances to live music.  Dancing runs from 3:30 to 6 pm.  As always, no partner is required. 

 

Today's band is WALTZING STARS TRIO with Liz Donaldson (piano), Alexander Mitchell (violin), Marty Taylor (winds, concertina).

The Family Dance program is a wonderful addition to the other family-oriented programs at Glen Echo Park. Spend the afternoon dancing with your children. Each of the family dances features live music and called dances from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Bring your entire family, neighbors, birthday party, and girl or boy scout troop.

Enjoy an evening of music by the Capital Horns of the Washington Conservatory. This large group of amateur and professional French Horn players recently joined together, and Glen Echo Park is thrilled to be the site for some of their first organized concerts. The ensemble is made up of some of the area's most accomplished horn players, including former military band members (US Navy Band, US Marine Band) and current music faculty at local universities.

 

The Bumper Car Pavilion is completely covered; concerts will be held rain or shine. Praline at Glen Echo will be open or bring a picnic dinner. 

 

 

Sweden in the Park - Nordic Folk Dancing

SWEDEN IN THE PARK: Nordic Folk Dance at Glen Echo Park
June 18, July 28, August 25, September 10


The Embassy of Sweden, in collaboration with Glen Echo Park and the local folkdance community, are offering free Swedish/Nordic folk dance lessons and social dances! The events will take place in the Bumper Car Pavilion.

Beginners are welcome. No need to bring a partner. Bring clean hard-soled shoes with low wide heel if you can. Free of charge. Water supplied.
