Summer Concert Series 2017: Bollywood Brass DC

Bollywood Brass DC plays festive traditional Indian brass music with several instruments accompanied by dhol, an Indian drum. Imagine a Mardi Gras ensemble with a Bollywood twist. Their repertoire consists of popular Bollywood songs and traditional tunes from Baraat processions and other South Asian celebrations.

 

The Bumper Car Pavilion is completely covered; concerts will be held rain or shine. Praline at Glen Echo will be open or bring a picnic dinner. The Dentzel carousel will be open from 7 - 9 pm, $1.25/ride.

Registration for Fall and Winter 2017-2018 classes will open for WALK-INs ONLY on August 5. The office will be open 10am to 6pm. For most classes, it is not necessary to register on the first day.

 

Online registration will open on Sunday, August 6, at 12pm.

Elikeh is an Afro-pop band founded by the Togolese artist, Serge Massama Dogo. Elikeh uses elements of Togolese rhythms (Agbadja, Kamu) as a foundation for exploration into American-influenced blues, funk, and rock to produce captivating Afro-pop tunes that are as listenable as they are danceable.

The Brazilian music group Origem has been performing in the Washington metropolitan area for over 15 years, fostering public awareness of Brazilian culture through their music. They play a variety of Brazilian music styles, such as samba, bossa nova, forro, afoxe, and maracatu, from the Southeast and Northeast regions of Brazil. Origem was awarded a grant by the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities in 1998 to record a CD, and its co-founders and leaders, Alejandro and Leonardo Lucini, have both been nominated as “Best Latin Musicians” by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA).

Enjoy an evening of Dixieland music with the U.S. Marine Band! The Dixieland Ensemble is a group within the United States Marine Band, also known as "The President's Own." The band is made up of world-class musicians who regularly perform a wide range of music for the President and other dignitaries.

SWEDEN IN THE PARK: Nordic Folk Dance at Glen Echo Park
June 18, July 28, August 25, September 10


The Embassy of Sweden, in collaboration with Glen Echo Park and the local folkdance community, are offering free Swedish/Nordic folk dance lessons and social dances! The events will take place in the Bumper Car Pavilion.

Enjoy an evening of country, folk, and classic rock songs with Tall in the Saddle. Though the personnel have changed, this band has been playing the mid-atlantic region consistently for decades. They come complete with a pedal steel guitar player for that authentic Country Western sound.
