ABOUT LAYSSA & ARTHUR

Layssa Liebscher, was born in Rio de Janeiro and at 14 years old she discovered her passion for classical ballet and jazz.

She started learning Latin dance in 2007 and specialized in Brazilian zouk and samba de gafieira during her years as part of Renata Peçanha’s Dance Company in Brazil.

In 2012, she started her partnership with Arthur Liebscher. Together they moved to Adelaide, Australia where they started their Latin dance school called Layssa and Arthur Dance.

Arthur Liebscher discovered his dance passion in high school. A performer, teacher and choreographer, he started dancing Latin and Ballroom in 2007 and after 3 months was invited to become part of Sport Dance’s company where he learned Brazilian zouk, salsa, samba de gafieira, bolero, tango, cha cha cha and forró. In December 2007 he did his first zouk workshop with Renata Peçanha and has never looked back.

Tonight's band is Michael Gamble and The Rhythm Serenaders -- classic small-group swing at its finest! This six piece combo is a hard-swinging dedication to the style and arrangements of the mid-to-late 1940s, paying homage to the small groups of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Roy Eldridge, Illinois Jacquet, Chuck Berry, and other artists that mastered the small group sound. Bandleader Michael Gamble's 10+ years of work in every aspect of the global swing dance community informs the band's repertoire and taste. Michael Gamble and The Rhythm Serenaders embody the joy and infectious energy of mid-20th century American Jazz. The music will carry a dance floor all night long, so bring your dancing shoes!
