Moonshine Rhythm Club brings old-school swing and jazz to life with joyful arrangements and energetic playing that makes this vintage music sound like it was written this morning. The boys seek out deep cuts from the '30s and '40s, take their favorite parts from classic big band recordings, and distill them into their signature sound. That sound draws on the guitar-driven, acoustic fire of gypsy jazz, as well as the slow burn and laid-back groove of later artists like Count Basie and Nat “King” Cole. On top of this lays classy and hip vocals with a lighthearted humor. Gottaswing is delighted to welcome the Moonshine Rhythm Club to the stage at the Spanish Ballroom.

The dance includes a beginner swing lesson with Tom & Debra from 8 - 9 pm, followed by dancing from 9 pm - midnight. Beginners are welcome and no partner is necessary.

Hear for yourself why Frankie Manning, one of the original Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers and an icon to the Swing World, called the Tom Cunningham Orchestra “the Swingin’est Band in all the Land!” The 16-piece orchestra’s appearances at Glen Echo Park are a Washington institution going back to 1983 and celebrated on TV, radio, newspapers and in books. So take a tip from The Washington Post’s Mike Joyce, “The Cunningham Band is bound to please.”

Enjoy a beginning swing lesson with Tom & Debra of Gottaswing at 8 pm, followed by dancing from 9 pm to midnight. No partner or prior experience needed.

The Hot Club of Baltimore performs arrangements of the Django Reinhardt repertoire and '30s and '40s swing music. Appearing as a trio and a quintet, tonight the Hot Club is bringing it's Big Band line-up, including captivating vocalist Alexis Tantau on songs by Edith Piaf, Eartha Kitt, Charles Trenet, Maxine Sullivan, Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee, to name but a few. Led by Michael Joseph Harris, we're excited to feature the big band for a pre-NYE Pajama Party. Pajama Party? We're not kidding. We expect everyone to show up in their Doctor Dentons and slippers. Hair curlers and face masque optional.
