Fusion Dance - Zouk and West Coast Swing

Come join us for another night of Brazilian zouk & West Coast Swing! This time, we are fortunate to have internationally renowned artist Marc Brewer teaching our special intermediate zouk workshop with plenty of techniques that are easily applicable across all dance styles.

We encourage advanced dancers to come early and practice/dance with newcomers! Let's show them the love in our communities :)

9:30pm-2:00am Zouk & WCS with DJ LOJYK (James Kong) and DJChuky
Most music will be danceable for both dances, so we'll keep you dancing all night!

As featured on America's Got Talent, internationally renowned artist Marc Brewer, based in Michigan, is one of North America's most sought after Afro-Latin Dance instructors, performers, and choreographers. Certified in 9 American competitive ballroom dances and proficient in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Hip-hop, dances in the Afro-Latin genre are his specialty and main focus with extensive training and experience in Kizomba, Salsa, Bachata, Theater Arts (Lifts, Dips, and Tricks), and Brazilian-Zouk. He is rapidly leaving his mark on the competitive Afro-Latin dance world with recent finalist placements at the American Kizomba Open Championship (1st) and International Kizomba Open (3rd) in 2013 and the 2014 Toronto Bachata Congress Kings of Bachata Competition (2nd).

The Glen Echo Park Partnership presents a swing dance with live music in the historic Spanish Ballroom. Tonight we have the Music Unlimited Big Band, directed by James Bazen. You'll enjoy dancing to classic Big Band tunes from the likes of Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, and Tommy Dorsey - and don't be surprised if you hear a few swingin' holiday songs!


Tom & Debra of Gottaswing will be on hand to teach the beginner dance lesson and DJ the band breaks.


A beginner dance lesson runs from 8 - 9 pm and is included in the cost of admission, followed by dancing from 9 pm - midnight. No partner or prior experience needed.

23rd Annual Friends of the Yellow Barn Members Show

The Yellow Barn Gallery presents the 23rd Annual Friends of the Yellow Barn Members Show. This highly competitive and popular show features the best drawing and painting work by the Yellow Barn members. This year's juror is Paul Spreiregen, an internationally known architect and author. There will be a closing artists' reception on Sunday, December 17 from 4 to 6pm, with an awards presentation at 5pm. A Washington Tradition for 26 years, "The Nutcracker" is the story of Clara-Marie's favorite toy, and their adventures together in the Land of the Sugarplum Fairy. Music from Tchaikovsky's famous ballet blends with marionettes and costume characters to create this unique production.

Photoworks Gallery is pleased to present 2017 Photoslam. This exhibition will showcase the 2016 Photoslam winners. The exhibit features work that ranges from intimate portraits to street photography and sweeping minimalist landscapes.

Waltz Time presents a beginning waltz lesson from 2:45 to 3:30 pm, followed by an afternoon of waltzes and other couples dances to live music.  Dancing runs from 3:30 to 6 pm.  As always, no partner is required for this dance in the Spanish Ballroom, and the cost is $10, including lesson.

Argentine Tango

Tango Brillante DC is happy to offer Argentine Tango lessons followed by a Milonga most Sunday evenings. Dancers can choose either the beginner lesson from 6:30 - 7:30 pm or the special Milonga lesson from 7:30 - 8:30 pm, or both. Cost is $15 for one lesson or $20 for both lessons  - both options include the Milonga that follows. For dancers who wish to attend just the Milonga, cost is $10 and the open dance runs from 8:30 - 11:00 pm. René will DJ a mix of traditional tango with a little alternative added. No partner required.

Contra and Square Dance

The Folklore Society of Greater Washington presents traditional American contra dancing. The evening can include square dances, mixers, waltzes and other couple dances. All Contras and Square dances are taught, no partner is necessary. There is a lesson at 7 p.m., followed by the dance with caller and live music from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
