Glen Echo Park Partnership is pleased to present Mosaics: One Piece at a Time.  This exhibition highlights the breadth of current work from a select group of mosaic artists from across the region.  Featured artists include Bonnie Fitzgerald, Yulia Hanansen, Ali Mirsky, Jane Pettit, Carol Talkov, Meghan Walsh and Roslyn Zinner.  The exhibition is in collaboration with the JRA Distinguished Artist Series workshop by mosaic artist Sonia King, November 18.

The Art Glass Center gallery's ongoing exhibitions feature the work of resident artists Diane Cabe, Christine Hekimian, Sue Hill, Michele Rubin, Bev and Zayde Sleph, and Janet Wittenberg. Glassworks was the Washington DC area's first glass school. Classes are taught year-round for both new and advanced students. During open studio hours view artists and work and purchase beautiful hand-blown glass.

Photoworks Gallery is pleased to present 2017 Photoslam. This exhibition will showcase the 2016 Photoslam winners. The exhibit features work that ranges from intimate portraits to street photography and sweeping minimalist landscapes.

Artists exhibiting work in the show includes 2016's first place winner Tom Mullins, second place Denzil Spicer, third place Tanguy de Carbonnières, and the audience choice Saul Pleeter.

The James Renwick Alliance presents mosaic artist Sonia King as part of their Distinguished Artist Series 2017-2018.  Sonia King highlights the beauty and uniqueness of each tiny piece of stone or glass, while placing purposefully a multitude of these "tesserae" together to build artworks with rhythm, texture and emotion.

 

King will discuss her mosaic techniques at her Artist Workshop, Saturday, November 18, 9:30am to 12pm, at Glen Echo Park.  A lecture will be held Sunday, November 19 at the Katzen Arts Center.  Registration for these events is directly with the JRA.
