The Glen Echo Park Partnership presents a swing and blues dance with live music by Cathy Ponton King in the historic Spanish Ballroom. A beginner dance lesson runs from 8 - 9 pm and is included in the cost of admission, followed by dancing from 9 pm - midnight. No partner or prior experience needed.

Cathy Ponton King has been playing swing, blues, and her own original music for over two decades. She has opened shows and/or jammed with KoKo Taylor, Marcia Ball, Sonny Landreth, Earl King, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Delbert McClinton, Bobby Parker, Willie Dixon, Johnny Winter, Sarah Dash, and Arlen Roth. Her passionate vocals and Telecaster guitar lead an all-star band of jazz, blues, and R&B veterans.

"Cathy Ponton King, out of Washington D.C., has a style and grace all her own, even though she is continually compared to such artists as Bonnie Raitt. Her voice is like velvet, with a rich, sassy edge, and her delivery of each song is surely heartfelt."

- Nashville Music City Bluesletter (Jan Cronin)

Djoukil is a group of five fantastic French musicians from Lyon joined by their common passion for the music of Django Reinhardt-style Gypsy Jazz and American Swing. Their favorite era being the jazz/swing rhythms and melodies of the 1940s makes them a much sought-after band for swing dances, festivals and concerts in France the past 10 years, and now they are coming to the U.S.!
