Join Washington Conservatory for a Casual Concert featuring Michael Adcock on piano.  Casual Concerts feature music in an informal setting  - sit back, relax, stretch out on floor pillows, or munch a treat you've picked up at Praline while you enjoy the music. Lasting about an hour, our informal setting encourages musicians and audience to chat during the performance.  The program will include Ragtime and Ragtime-inspired compositions by American composers including Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, William Albright, Bill Bolcom and John Musto to top off your evening at Art Walk in the Park. Admission with donation, all proceeds go to the artist.

The Washington Folk Festival is back for its 37th year at Glen Echo Park. This FREE festival, presented by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington in collaboration with the Glen Echo Park Partnership, celebrates the many folk music, dance and craft traditions of the greater Washington area. The Festival features over 450 of the best traditional musicians, storytellers, dancers, and craftspeople in the region.

 

Five stages simultaneously present music and dance for a total of nearly 70 hours of live performance. The festival also includes a storytelling stage, dance workshops in the Spanish Ballroom, a craft marketplace in the Bumper Car Pavilion, and many spontaneous picking sessions in the Park’s picnic grove.

Enjoy an evening of Latin Jazz with the U.S. Marine Band! The Latin Jazz combo is an ensemble within the United States Marine Band, also known as "The President's Own." The band is made up of world-class musicians who regularly perform a wide range of music for the President and other dignitaries.

For more than four decades, Billy Hancock has played Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Country, Rockabilly, and Rock n Roll in clubs all over the DC area. In the 1970s he was part of the acclaimed trio Danny and the Fat Boys, with Danny Gatton and Dave Elliott. Billy is best known for his Rockabilly career which really took off in the early '80's. Due to recent health issues, Billy has not been able to perform and has mounting medical bills. All profits from this benefit concert go directly to Billy.

 

Admission is $25. All tickets sold at the door.

SWEDEN IN THE PARK: Nordic Folk Dance at Glen Echo Park
June 18, July 28, August 25, September 10


The Embassy of Sweden, in collaboration with Glen Echo Park and the local folkdance community, is offering free Swedish/Nordic folk dance lessons and social dances! The events will take place in the Bumper Car Pavilion.

First hour dance class, followed by social dance. Beginners are welcome. No need to bring a partner. Bring clean hard-soled shoes with low wide heel if you can. Water supplied.

David "Git" Cole is a native Washingtonian and a favorite of the DC Blues Society. His versatile guitar playing and soulful vocals have allowed him to play with some of the top names in blues, jazz, and R&B, including Percy Sledge, Regina Bell, the Delfonics, Roberta Flack, and The Orioles. His band, Main Street Blues, features Ron Felder on drums, Emory Diggs Jr. on bass, and Barry Brady on keys.

Heritage Days

Heritage Days is a two-day, county-wide festival sponsored by Heritage Tourism Alliance of Montgomery County (Heritage Montgomery). Glen Echo Park is one of many venues in the county offering special programming - FREE of charge- for Heritage Days weekend.

 

The Spanish Ballroom will be open to the public on Saturday from noon - 4 pm. See the interior of this 1933 art deco gem, learn about the history of the Ballroom and Glen Echo Park, and enjoy singing by Just In Time. Free performances in the Ballroom at 1:30, 2:15, and 3:00 pm.

 

Just In Time double quartet was born in 1981 (as "Pieces of Eight"). During the 36 years since 1981, the group has had 23 singers join and leave, but they're always "Just In Time". They sing four-part unaccompanied close harmony in the barbershop style. 

 

Other Heritage Days Events!

Each year, on the last weekend of June, Heritage Montgomery hosts its signature event, the annual Heritage Days celebration – this year marking its 20th anniversary! This event with free admission offers visitors an opportunity to sample numerous sites representing the history, culture, and natural beauty of Montgomery County. Saturday, June 24 & Sunday, June 25, 2017 – noon to 4pm

For the last 18 years, the Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition has been one of the premier bluegrass bands in the Annapolis and mid-Atlantic area. Using the tools of their trade - banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and bass fiddle - the Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition offers traditional and contemporary compositions laced with three part harmonies and bluesy solos.
