ABOUT LAYSSA & ARTHUR

Layssa Liebscher, was born in Rio de Janeiro and at 14 years old she discovered her passion for classical ballet and jazz.

She started learning Latin dance in 2007 and specialized in Brazilian zouk and samba de gafieira during her years as part of Renata Peçanha’s Dance Company in Brazil.

In 2012, she started her partnership with Arthur Liebscher. Together they moved to Adelaide, Australia where they started their Latin dance school called Layssa and Arthur Dance.

Arthur Liebscher discovered his dance passion in high school. A performer, teacher and choreographer, he started dancing Latin and Ballroom in 2007 and after 3 months was invited to become part of Sport Dance’s company where he learned Brazilian zouk, salsa, samba de gafieira, bolero, tango, cha cha cha and forró. In December 2007 he did his first zouk workshop with Renata Peçanha and has never looked back.

Waltz Time presents the 34th Annual Viennese Waltz Ball: "An Evening with Strauss." This benefit event is always a highlight of the spring season, giving dancers a chance to strut their stuff in elegant attire – while supporting Glen Echo Park! Live music is featured with a classical arrangement of Viennese waltzes of varying tempos, with a sprinkling of other couples dances, including polka, schottische and tango. Music provided by OLDE VIENNA with Alexander Mitchell (violin), Elke Baker (violin, viola), Jonathan Jensen (piano), Barbara Heitz (flute, piccolo), Ralph Gordon (bass).

An introductory Viennese Waltz lesson at 8 pm is followed by dancing until midnight in the Spanish Ballroom. A Grand March, dance cards, Carousel rides ($1.25/person) and refreshments complete a perfect evening. Formal attire suggested, no partner required. All dance tickets sold at the door beginning at 7:40 pm.
